kubernetes — hybrid cloud

As public cloud has become Important, there have been multiple attempts to bring equality between on-premises and public cloud infrastructure.

Open Source project like OpenStack, CloudStack and Eucalyptus aimed to become the hybrid cloud platforms for seamlessly integrating enterprise data centers with the public cloud.

The container runtime became the lowest common denominator to run workloads across physical machines, private cloud and the public cloud. Container images have become the preferred deployment units of software. In a lot of ways, Docker and container runtimes became an alternative to hypervisors.

With containers as the deployment unit and Kubernetes as the orchestration manager, the industry finally agreed on a standard infrastructure layer.

It is due to the standardization efforts, a developer developing and testing containerized software on his desktop can easily deploy it in a production environment running Kubernetes.

We have seen the launch of Kubernetes-based hybrid cloud platforms from almost all the major infrastructure vendors. These new offerings manage both on-premises cluster, in their own cloud platforms and any Kubernetes cluster on other cloud environments.

Thanks to Kubernetes . These hybrid cloud platforms enable workload portability, ability to scale across environments.

No doubt in future, Kubernetes will become the universal interface that can manage containers, virtual machines, modern applications.
